he meeting with Mr. Christophe DLUZNIEWSKI

The meeting occurs in ESIEE Engineering the 26th March 2009 at 2pm with the presence of LADJEMI Mehdi member of the team Green Kiss and Mr. Christophe DLUZNIEWSKI a manager at Veolia Environmental Services to discuss an eventual partnership in the treatment of waste at School. The meeting was mainly about three themes.

Firstly, the feasibility of the project within the institution.

Secondly, our expectations as students compared to the evolution of our project.

And Thirdly, the solutions that can provide us Veolia under the sorting of waste in a building like ESIEE Engineering and the material that can Veolia treat efficiently and we discussed about a possible offer from the company.

Concerning to the feasibility of the project within the buildings of ESIEE engineering, it appeared that the project is likely to be feasible.

Indeed, some projects like the latter, however, less ambitious conducted at the University of Marne la Vallée were launched for more than a year now.

The feasibility of the project is not in doubt. However, the collaboration of all stakeholders on that is clearly important, because of the complexity of the process to implement. It is essential to make a preliminary study on the financial impact for the school, and the reliability of the optimization of investments and garbage container used for this purpose for sorting.

Regarding our expectations, we explained to Mr. DLUZNIEWSKI that there should be specific bins available in strategic locations to collect the most paper in these places. And that the project don’t concern only the disposal process and schemes but is also about raising awareness needed to bring students and administrators to change their habits and move towards its garbage in that bins, instead of the classical bins.

As for the plastic, we offer several solutions, like paper garbage, of course in lesser quantities, but must be disposed in a visible way, like in the main artery of the school as the cannibal (name given to the recycling machine for cans).

Mr. DLUZNIEWSKI explained that these kinds of services are possible with Veolia environment and that we could have those specific bins and others if we wanted to treat electronic components, such as metal cages for large equipment or small container placed in laboratories to collect electronic resistors, capacitors and more. We have therefore agreed that he will provide us a proposal for that kind of services. He will also provide us the different processes used by Veolia in the treatment of waste, all laws relating to such services and all types of information that may help us in the discovery of post processing is an integral part of our project. Indeed, the fate of these wastes is a constant concern. The post processing is one of the criteria that will encourage us to choose one or the other providers

One day, a group of students at ESIEE-Engineering has created “Green Kiss”, a group that loves nature and tries to make green their school.

They will make a project proposal for the European competition launched by GE Energy to select the best technological innovations to make the campus ESIEE Paris greener.Projects (technical report and presentation in various forms: game, video, photos, etc..) Will be submitted to the contest. In a logical initiative for eco-imagination, innovative ideas put forward to generate a positive environmental impact on campus. Different types of technologies can be used: solar panels, cogeneration, water management, recycling, cycling electric, wind energy, nuclear energy consumption, low consumption lamps, etc.. The projects submitted will be evaluated on 3 criteria: ecological, economic and imagination. Projects must contain all the elements necessary for implementing the project: market research, feasibility study, technical features if necessary. The 3 winning teams will be announced in July 2009 on the competition website and will have a financing from GE Energy to develop their technology. Other prizes are also planned.

Additional information about the competition can be found in the competition website: here. Examples of projects in the U.S. can be found on this site here.

The project will also be presented at the “Day of projects” at ESIEE Paris.
